Broadband serviceable locations (BSLs) from the FCC Location Fabric dataset that have received funding through various Federal, State, and Local funding programs aimed at expanding broadband service in North Carolina. Broadband funding program data was intersected with the FCC BSL fabric to create the location data in this service. Polygons from the FCC Broadband Funding Map (https://fundingmap.fcc.gov/home) were downloaded for NC and used to select the corresponding BSLs for each program. For state-funded programs, the polygons and location data used for those programs was transferred into the BSL dataset using various methods. If the original program data was defined with polygons (such as census blocks or parcels), those polygons were intersected with the BSLs to derive the corresponding project locations. If the original program awards were defined using location data, such as addresses, the statewide parcel dataset from NC OneMap was used to crosswalk the original addresses into the corresponding BSLs. For future broadband funding programs, if a BSL has already received funding in a past program as represented by the data in this service, then the location is not eligible to receive future funding. |
